Managed Futures Panel

In their 3rd annual alternative investment survey, Morningstar and Barron's reported more than 70% of institutions expect alternatives to account for more than 10% of their portfolios over the next five years; 37% (up from 25% last year) expect their portfolio allocation to alternatives to exceed 25%. Managed futures was most commonly cited by advisors as the strategy that they intend to consider for investment going forward, and it was the second most commonly cited strategy by institutional investors.*

Why are institutional investors turning to managed futures? What do they offer over other alternative investment strategies? How should they be used in a portfolio context? How should we dissect performance and set proper expectations? Is there too much money flowing into the space? What should we avoid? What are managers doing to adapt in this environment? How do managers participate in global uncertainty?
CAIA Los Angeles presents a unique opportunity to contrast fund managers’ views across different strategies and focuses.
