CAIA Announces New Board of Directors Member

Jane Buchan joins CAIA Association Board of Directors

February 6, 2009: (Amherst, MA. USA) - Dr. Jane Buchan Ph.D. has been named to the Board of Directors for the CAIA Association. Jane is the Chief Executive Officer of the Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company, LLC, and (PAAMCO) headquartered in Irvine California

"Jane has been a member and valuable contributor to the CAIA program since its inception," said Craig Asche, executive director of the CAIA Association. "Along with the rest of the Board, I welcome the opportunity to work with someone possessing her depth of knowledge, breadth of experience, and dedication to education and professionalism within the Alternative Industry."

As the CEO of PAAMCO, Jane manages an institutional fund of funds whose clients include the pension plans of many major corporations, state governments and foreign retirement trusts, with over $10 billion in management.

Asked about her recent appointment, Jane replied, "The CAIA Association has done an outstanding job in raising the awareness of the credential, now it's a matter of continuing to build our resources over time, and I look forward to giving back to the industry. I am a big proponent of continuing education. The Association has set the baseline standards for this new industry, which helps separate the wheat from the chaff."

Before joining PAAMCO, Jane was co-managing partner and portfolio manager with Collins Associates of California. Under her management the portfolio grew from $20mm to $900mm.

Jane is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Alternative Investments, a visiting lecturer for the MBA program at the University of California at Irvine and the author of numerous articles and working papers on topics such as hedge funds, corporate risk and market neutral strategies. Jane has also served as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Jane brings twenty years of experience in investment management and portfolio construction to the CAIA Association Board, beginning with her career at JP Morgan Investment Management in1986 as a quantitative fixed-income analyst in New York.

Jane has always been a competitor. She was an Ivy League all-star high-jumper and a three time champion during her undergraduate years at Yale University. She was also recruited to train for the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, necessitating a move to Southern California.

Jane has a Ph.D. in Business Economics (Finance) from Harvard University and lives in Corona Del Mar, California with her husband.
