2006 is now well underway and the CAIA Association has been moving fast to keep pace with its goals for the year. As the CAIA program evolves, certain changes are being implemented to accommodate the continued growth, improve process flow and to expand our outreach in general.
Traditionally, the CAIA Summer exams have taken place during the final two weeks of July. However, the Association has modified the testing schedule and, as a result, the July exam session is moving to September. Likewise, the February 2007 exams are moving to March. Therefore, instead of a February/July testing cycle, the exams will now fall on a March/September cycle. There is no longer a February or July exam. The next exam dates are September 11th - 22nd, 2006, followed by March 12th - 23rd, 2007.
The fee structure for the CAIA program has also been revised. In prior exam registration periods, the program's pricing plan was comprised of separate enrollment and exam fees for both the Level I and Level II exams. For each level of the program, candidates separately paid a $200 Registration Fee and a $1000 Exam Fee.
While the total cost of the program remains the same, the Association has modified the fee structure by shifting the enrollment charges to the beginning of the process. Thus, the two previously separate $200 Registration fees have been consolidated into a single Program Enrollment fee of $400. This one-time Program Enrollment fee is now due when individuals first enter the program. The two $2000 Exam Registration fees remain separately payable upon registering for each exam level.
Existing candidates eligible for their first attempt at the Level II exam, having already paid $200 in enrollment charges for the Level I exam, are required to pay the remaining $200 of their Program Enrollment fee when registering for the Level II exam.
Candidates eligible for AIMA/CISDM member discounts continue to receive reduced rates on Exam Registration fees only. There are no discounts on the Program Enrollment fee.
The $350 Exam Retake fee remains in place.
This year, members and candidates can look forward to a redesigned website and the introduction of a new logo, both of which are slated to be launched in summer 2006. The new website will not only boast a fresh new look, it will also feature a more streamlined design and robust functionality to better facilitate exam registration and member interaction. It will also allow us to more ably relay program updates and noteworthy AI industry developments.
