Press release: Registration Opens for CAIA Association’s Alternative Investment Designation Exams

Date:
April 5, 2010

AMHERST, Massachusetts—The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) today announced the opening of registration for the September 2010 CAIA Level I and Level II examinations. The Association expects more than 3,000 candidates to register for the self-study exams that will be administered at testing centers throughout the world. Candidates can register for the exams at the CAIA website (http://caia.org) now through Monday, Aug. 2. Those who register by Monday, May 17, will save 10% on exam registration fees.

“The alternative investment industry is the fastest growing segment of the investment universe,” says E. Craig Asche, executive director of the CAIA Association. “As a result, there is a growing demand for qualified experts to advise on and invest in alternative assets. Professionals who are serious about alternative investments are taking on the challenge to earn their CAIA designation.”

The CAIA exams are held twice a year, in March and September. Once candidates successfully complete both exam levels, they earn their professional CAIA designation, which is the only world-recognized designation for alternative investment expertise.

CAIA candidates who sit for the September exams will use the CAIA Association’s new curriculum. The CAIA curriculum reflects the increased complexity of the alternative investment industry and covers topics such as distressed investing, multi-strategy hedge funds, risk management, and credit derivatives.

Professionals considering the CAIA program can take a voluntary online prerequisite diagnostic review. The review allows them to confirm their knowledge of the baseline skills required to begin studying the CAIA curriculum.
