David Semmens

, CAIA, has returned to London as a Director – US Economist at Standard Chartered Bank increasing the focus on serving European, African and Asian clients.

Starting his career with Standard Chartered Bank in London in 2005, David has acquired extensive experience in cross functional divisions, such as Asset Backed Securities, Group Market Risk, Derivative Documentation and Asset Liability Management. He moved to New York in 2007 to further promote the bank’s research and strategy capabilities.

David has been named a "Bloomberg Best" for his forecasting expertise and analysis in the driving forces for US interest rates, housing sector, labor market, consumer behaviour and retail sales. He advises key multinational corporate clients on the outlook for the US. He frequently provides analysis on Bloomberg, Fox Business, CNBC, NHK and NDTV. He is regularly quoted in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal and New York Times.

David earned an M.Sc. and a B.Sc (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Warwick where he received an Economic and Social Research Council 1+3 scholarship. He has a B.Sc ( Hons. ) in Economics, also from the University of Warwick. In addition to his CAIA designation, David is also a CFA charter holder and FRM designation holder.
