John Shook, CAIA, Chapter Head

John Shook is a financier based in Philadelphia. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the CEO and president of Attalus Capital in Philadelphia, where he converted a fund of hedge funds into a single-family office. Previously, he had been at Bell Rock Capital Management, the successor firm to De Putron Fund Management, a market neutral systematic and discretionary hedge fund in London, where he was head of market research and marketing for 7 years. Between 2001 and 2005, at GLG Partners, he marketed their suite of hedge funds and co-founded their external fund of hedge fund business. Prior to that, he spent 14 years in a variety of senior roles within prime brokerage services at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch in London. He started his career with Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette in 1985 as a credit analyst. Shook holds an MBA from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management and a BS in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also carries the Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts designation.
