Kimberly Backus is a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. In this role, she is responsible for creating and maintaining personalized investment solutions and a broad range of wealth management services. This includes assisting clients with establishing goals and objectives, working to develop an appropriate overall strategy, formulating and implementing potential solutions and conducting periodic reviews to help monitor progress toward reaching the initial goals and strategies set forth. Prior to joining Bank of America, Kimberly began her career as a corporate finance analyst with Lehman Brothers and later worked as a derivatives originator and structurer with Citigroup in New York, before relocating to California and focusing on investments. Her investing experience includes security analysis across the entire capital structure, from equities to distressed debt. In addition, Kimberly has experience investing in hedge funds and venture capital, as well as creating strategic beta and socially responsible investment solutions. Kimberly received an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Rhodes College in Economics and Business Administration, where she also completed the full CPA-level Accounting curriculum. She also studied for one year at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. Kimberly holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. She currently serves on the Executive Committee for the CAIA Association® Los Angeles Chapter and on the Foundation Board for Newport Coast Elementary School. She is also a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society.
