Chronicles of an Allocator

Chronicles: November 2020

Issue 9, November 2020

Dear Investment Professional,

Despite the uncertainty in the foreground today, the rise of sustainable investing is still alive and well in the background. To be sure, the road ahead remains an uphill task, especially with the US, the world’s largest economy, officially no longer part of the Paris Agreement. But ESG, the closest available toolkit for a better societal outcome, is here to stay and continues to gain traction.

Similarly, our industry’s traditional view of investment risk and return has further expanded to include a third dimension – social impact. This brings the purpose of the profession back to basics and serves as an important reminder that this industry exists to serve society. The better we can deliver the societal outcome, the greater the support we will enjoy from the society we serve.

We are excited to share with you this month’s selection of excellent pieces on private equity, cryptocurrency, and the role of intangibles in corporate valuation.

Sincerely,
