Senior Accountant

The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association® (CAIA) in Amherst is seeking a dynamic individual to join our finance team. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant needs to be highly organized, extremely detail-oriented individual at ease with multi-tasking and adhering to deadlines, possessing excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. Individual must be comfortable working alone as well as collaboratively and have the ability to adapt and prioritize effectively. Must be able to perform journal entries to detail schedules to ledgers to financial statements. Experience with transfer pricing is a must.  Prior experience in a non-profit and/or membership-based organization and international accounting is a huge plus. The ideal candidate will have 5+ year’s relevant work experience. A Bachelor’s degree is required; CPA is preferred. This position is based in Amherst, MA, but we will consider a remote working situation.

CAIA Association’s Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller to successfully and timely execute the financial and administrative operations of the organization.

Duties:

  • Reconcile all CAIA bank accounts monthly; create monthly case report for CEO.
  • Reconcile Foundation and FDPi bank accounts monthly.
  • Calculate royalty payments semi-annually
  • Perform monthly accounting for Hong Kong, Singapore, United Kingdom, Switzerland, to include;
    • Reconcile Statement of Financial Position to partner accounting firm ledgers monthly
    • Reconcile Statement of Activities sheets to partner accounting firm ledgers month
    • Maintain and reconcile subsidiary schedules (e.g. AR, AP, FA, I/C, etc) to partner accounting firm schedules.
    • Investigate and resolve differences, perform correspondence.
    • Monthly upload of each entity’s data into accounting system.
  • Provide timely support of financial management projects/programs and produce necessary information and analysis to management and Board
  • Plays integral role in the organization’s annual audit process to include liaising and coordinating financial and administrative activities among the organization’s various locations and related accounting firms.
  • Assist with preparation and management of the organization’s budget and perform analyses such as “budget to actual” reports.   
  • Provide accounting support/enforcement in support of human resources activities, contracts, and operations policies and procedures.             
  • Complete billing/accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including processing expense reimbursements.
  • ​Successfully deliver other project assignments as defined/required by Controller.

The ideal candidate needs 5+ year’s relevant work experience. A Bachelor’s degree is required; CPA is preferred. This position is based in Amherst, MA.
