AMHERST, MASS., Sept. 15, 2011 – The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association today announced a 33% increase in new Level I enrollments for the September 2011 exam cycle from the March 2011 exam cycle.

New Level I enrollments increased by 29% in the Americas and by 10% in EMEA over the last six months. In Asia, new Level I enrollments jumped 82% from March 2011. Singapore and Korea each sent twice as many candidates as in March 2011, and in China, more candidates enrolled than ever before.

New candidates for the fall session aim to join more than 5,000 financial service industry professionals around the world who have earned the CAIA designation, the benchmark in alternative investment education. This cycle brings the greatest number of program entrants since before the global financial crisis.

"We welcome this new group of prospective CAIA designees," said Florence Lombard, CEO of the CAIA Association. "Given the current market uncertainties, now more than ever, financial professionals are looking for ways to distinguish themselves by ensuring their skills incorporate the latest industry developments. We continue to deliver the professional credential of choice for the alternative investment community."

"It is our goal to offer a designation with a very high level of practical relevance," said Ms. Lombard. "The growing interest in the CAIA program, despite a challenging worldwide economic environment, is the direct result of the increased allocations to several alternative investment strategies as investors continue to seek diversified sources of returns. It shows that the financial community is embracing the commitment to education and professionalism embodied by the CAIA designation. The program is poised for strong growth."
