Upon registering for the exam, you will become a candidate for the CAIA Charter. Registration is complete after following these steps:

1. Complete the online exam registration form and sign the Candidate Agreement. The CAIA Association must ensure that its candidates meet certain qualifications. Therefore, you will be asked to verify your identity and affirm your professional conduct by providing your digital signature during the registration process.
2. Purchase an exam. You may purchase an exam with a credit card via the secure Verisign site. We accept American Express, VISA, Discover and MasterCard.
3. Schedule an exam appointment. CAIA exams are delivered in computerized format exclusively through our global testing provider, Pearson VUE. To schedule an exam, candidates make an appointment at a Pearson Professional Center within the testing window.

Beginning with the September 2012 Level I exam, the CAIA Association is introducing the revised and updated CAIA Level I: An Introduction to Core Topics in Alternative Investments, Second Edition. This textbook and the accompanying study guide contain everything candidates need to know to build a solid foundation in alternative investment markets and to prepare for the CAIA Level I exam. They include comprehensive insights into all of the various strategies within each alternative asset class as well as portfolio management concepts central to alternative investments.
