To gain admission to the exam site on exam day, Candidates must present two items, (1) an acceptable form of identification as defined below, and (2) a printed Prometric Confirmation of Appointment.
1. A valid, non-expired government issued passport or government issued ID, which must meet the following requirements:
- be in English (or include an English translation)
- be an original document; photocopied documents are not acceptable
- be a physical ID; a digital ID issued to a mobile phone, or any other electronic device is not acceptable
- be a government-issued national/state/province identity card that is issued and recognized by the country where you are a citizen or resident
- be valid; expired documents are not acceptable
- include your full name exactly matching the name you used to register, excluding accents or diacritical marks
- include a recent, recognizable photograph
- include your signature
If your government issued passport or government issued ID does not include a signature (for example, biometric passports or some national IDs), you must also bring a secondary ID.
Acceptable Secondary IDs must:
- be original and unexpired physical ID
- include your full name exactly matching the name you used to register, excluding accents or diacritical marks
- include your handwritten signature
Commonly accepted secondary IDs include:
- A signed credit card
- A signed debit or ATM card
- A signed employee, school, or professional ID
2. A printed Prometric Confirmation of Appointment. CAIAA will neither accept nor allow admittance to the exam with an electronic version of the Confirmation of Appointment.
- The printed PrometricConfirmation of Appointment must exactly match the name on the Candidate’s passport or government issued ID, as presented on exam day. This includes an exact match of the first name and last name (Middle names are not considered when matching ID). The order of the names is irrelevant as long as all names appear.
- The printed Prometric Confirmation of Appointment may be a printed copy of the original or reminder email from Prometric or a printed copy from the Prometric portal (description below).
To receive an updated Confirmation from Prometric, please visit their website here, and select the ‘Confirmation/Receipt’ option to view your appointment details (You will need your Appointment confirmation number). Once that is shown select the “expand view” link below and you will see the option in the top left to print the Confirmation or have it emailed again.
NO exceptions to CAIAA’s Identification Policy will be made on exam day, regardless of what form of identification a Candidate may have used in past exam administrations. Please refer to the CAIA Exam Handbook for exam day expectations.
If a Candidate arrives on exam day without an original, valid, non-expired, government-issued passport or identification as defined above, and/or the printed Confirmation of Appointment Email, they will not be allowed to sit for the exam or reschedule their exam, and they will be forced to forfeit their exam fee(s).
Candidates who are unable to meet any of the above criteria or are unsure if their ID meets the above criteria MUST contact CAIAA no later than 30 days prior to the start of the exam window at candidate@caia.org.
