Preparing for the CAIA exam involves more than just studying. 

This checklist walks you through what to do, when to do it, and what to expect so you can focus on what matters most.

Right After You Register

About a Month Before Your Exam

  • Confirm your exam-day ID meets all requirements.
  • Review the Candidate Exam Handbook (what to expect, policies, etc.).
  • The best preview of exam day is the CAIA Sample Exam, use it to understand format, pacing, and where you may want to spend extra time.

The Week Before Your Exam

  • Know exactly where your Prometric Test Center is located.
  • Plan your route and timing.
  • Confirm the first and last name on your ID matches the first and last name on your Prometric Appointment Confirmation email, there will be no exceptions.

Exam Day

Arrive early:

  • Show up at least 45 minutes before your scheduled exam appointment. 

Bring:

  • A printed copy of your Prometric Appointment Confirmation.
  • Valid, acceptable ID.

Your ID must be:

  • A passport, government issued ID, or driver's license.
    • Must be: 
      • Original (no copies or digital version). 
      • Valid (not expired) and in English. 
      • Include your photo and signature.
      • Match your first and last name exactly as shown on your appointment confirmation.

After Your Exam 

  • Level 1 results: ~5 weeks after the last day of the Level I exam window
  • Level 2 results: ~8 weeks after the last day of the Level II exam window
  • Take a moment to share your experience in the CAIA post-exam survey (sent via email)
