Headshot of Klugy Mathurin

In 2013 Harvard Law School surveyed 124 lawyers at major law firms that indicated a knowledge base in finance and accounting is extremely important. The results indicated that the most important skill is the ability to analyze financial statements. Other skills that ranked near the top were understanding financial markets, business strategy, and industry analysis. Many law firms work intimately with large corporations and a strong business acumen allows a lawyer to effectively assist corporate clients with complex financial transactions. A skillful corporate lawyer must have a solid foundation in these areas in order to clearly express quantitative ideas in words. With that, having obtained both the CFA charter and CAIA Charter has given me a jump start in my profession.
