“A wonderful journey, from being a pioneer of the CAIA Association in my country, to witnessing a new ‘golden age’ for alternative investments.”
I became a CAIA member back in 2008, being one of the first in my country to achieve this accomplishment. I had the opportunity to see and to manage the whole spectrum of alternative investments, during difficult market cycles, like in 2008. CAIA always gave me dedicated support in my career, not just from a technical point of view, but also providing me many networking opportunities. For this reason, in 2017, a group of colleagues and friends decided to create the Italian CAIA Chapter that is, presently, an important landmark for the Italian investment community.
The CAIA Italy Chapter allows us to interact with a group of talented and experienced investors, always finding, anywhere in the world, a common and friendly place where to share ideas.
The 2008 crisis drastically changed our approach to alternative investments. I was able to survive, restructure and restart a growing cycle in the alternative business. It was one of the most satisfying experiences in my career.
There is no "secret sauce" in the way we analyze and manage investments, only a rigorous, structured, and solid approach. Do not be afraid to share your ideas with people, also outside your firm. Feedback from a trusted colleague could really make the difference.
