AMHERST, Mass. — The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association®, the global leader in alternative investment education, and the University of Amsterdam today announced a strategic partnership. Under the partnership, the first of its kind in the Netherlands, the University of Amsterdam Master in International Finance students will have access to the CAIA Association's curriculum and events. The students, more than 80% of whom are international, can also apply for scholarships to earn the CAIA Charter, which requires passing rigorous Level I and Level II examinations. The agreement was commemorated by Professor Jens Martin, Director of the Master in International Finance (MIF) at the University of Amsterdam, and Laura Merlini, CAIA, Director of Business Development, EMEA. "Through this partnership, MIF students will be able to bridge their finance education with the practical skills taught through the CAIA curriculum, giving them an advantage in the job market upon graduation,” said Merlini. “Employers will find that these students are prepared to apply the most current thinking in commodities, hedge funds, and private equity, and other alternative investments.” “The Master in International Finance program shares the CAIA Association’s mission of providing cutting-edge and rigorous education in finance,” said Professor Martin. “We also share CAIA’s global focus--our program is designed and taught by selected professors from internationally renowned universities. We believe our students will reap the benefits of this partnership.” Following the commemoration, Erik Keller, CAIA, FRM, Senior Hedge Fund Analyst at ABN AMRO led a discussion: “Are Hedge Funds true portfolio diversifiers?” Keller serves as CAIA Netherlands Chapter Head. CAIA’s Academic Partnership Program (APP) includes some of the most prestigious universities in the world that incorporate alternative investments into their courses as represented by the topics covered in the CAIA Level I and Level II curriculum. Upon today’s agreement, the University of Amsterdam becomes the 18th university in the Program, joining many other internationally top-ranked business schools such as Cass Business School/City University London, Trinity College Dublin, National University of Singapore, Leonard N.
