Deputy CIO of Utah Retirement Systems brings hands-on private markets expertise
and deep institutional insight to CAIA’s governing board

AMHERST, MASSACHUSETTS (January 2, 2026) The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA), the global professional body for alternative investment professionals, today announced that Jason K. Morrow, CAIA, CFA, Deputy Chief Investment Officer of Utah Retirement Systems (URS), has been elected to its Board of Directors. His first three-year term began on January 1, 2026.

With over a decade in senior investment leadership and responsibility for more than $60 billion in retirement assets, Morrow brings a uniquely sophisticated perspective to CAIA’s Board—one shaped by building and managing complex portfolios across private equity, private credit, natural resources, infrastructure, hedge funds, and public markets.

“Jason joins the CAIA Board as the alternative investment profession experiences rapid global growth and transformation,” said Jayne Bok, CAIA, CFA, Chair of the CAIA Board of Directors. “His investment acumen, paired with a deep commitment to education, stewardship, and fiduciary excellence, makes him a timely and valuable addition to the Board as CAIA continues to lead through a pivotal moment for our industry.”

At URS, Morrow directs investment research and manager selection and has extensive experience in asset allocation and portfolio construction across the entire portfolio. Under his leadership as Deputy CIO, URS has insourced much of its private markets capability, including building a complex set of direct and co-investment programs in private equity and energy, and continues to invest directly in real estate. He oversees the asset class teams, cultivating a collaborative culture grounded in long-term fiduciary thinking.

Morrow has been an active contributor to CAIA Association, advising on curriculum, participating in asset owner forums, and speaking at industry conferences. A graduate of the University of Utah, where he earned both his BS in Finance and MBA, he now teaches alternative investments to graduate students at the same institution. Morrow holds both the CAIA and CFA designations and serves as an advisor to AIF Global.

“This appointment comes at a time when private capital is reshaping global markets, yet the level of scrutiny, transparency, and fiduciary responsibility hasn’t always kept pace,” said John L. Bowman, CFA, CEO of the CAIA Association. “Jason’s work has always stood for intentionality and innovation.  As CAIA transforms itself to meet this challenge, I look forward to his voice helping us drive a more principled, client-centered investment profession—one equipped to lead through the convergence of traditional and alternative assets.”
