CAIA Association Launches Chapter in Washington, DC

The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association, a not-for-profit organization recognized globally as a leader in alternative investment education, launched its 17th chapter yesterday, CAIA Washington, DC. CAIA Staff and Washington DC Chapter Leader Photo

 

The event featured Keith Black, Ph.D., CAIA, CFA, Managing Director of Curriculum and Exams, who explored the source of the returns earned by some of the largest and most successful endowment and foundation portfolios that have long made substantial allocations to alternative investments.

 

“The launch of the Washington, DC chapter and the global growth of CAIA further underscore the increasing interest in alternative investment education,” said Florence Lombard, CAIA Association CEO.

 

"The vibrant investment community of the Washington, DC area includes the largest concentration of not-for-profit offices in the country,” said Sam Gallo, CAIA, head of the new chapter and Chief Investment Officer at the University of Maryland Foundation. “The CAIA Washington, DC chapter will connect the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland investment communities and offer a platform for professionals to stay abreast of new developments in alternative investments.”

 

The CAIA Association offers the only education pro­gram uniquely designed for individuals specializing in institutional-quality alternative investments. The CAIA Charter, which is granted upon successful completion of two levels of qualifying exams combined with relevant professional experience, is the global benchmark for alternative investment education. 

 

The CAIA Association has grown rapidly since its inception in 2002. Its membership exceeds 6,500 in more than 80 countries. CAIA supports chapters in financial centers around the world and sponsors more than 120 educational and networking events each year.

 

There currently are nearly 150 CAIA members in the Washington, DC metro area.  CAIA Washington, DC will promote ongoing continuing education, professional development and networking opportunities for investment professionals in the mid-Atlantic region.
