AMHERST, MA. (March 1, 2018) – The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association, the global leader in alternative investment education, today announced that Valerie J. Sill, CFA, CAIA, has been named Chair of its Board of Directors, effective March 1, 2018.  Ms. Sill replaces outgoing chair, Jane Buchan, Ph.D., CAIA, Chief Executive Officer of PAAMCO and Co-Chief Executive Officer at PAAMCO Prisma Holdings, who will be stepping down from the CAIA Board.

“Valerie is an extraordinarily accomplished financial services industry executive, with a proven track record of leadership and innovation throughout her career,” said William J. Kelly, CEO of CAIA.  “We’ve come to know her well through her many contributions as a member of our board, and we look forward to working closely with her in her new role as Chair.”

Mr. Kelly added, “In addition to welcoming Valerie, we want to thank Jane Buchan for her outstanding leadership and dedication as Chair over the past six years, a period that saw a major expansion of the CAIA brand around the world as well as significant additions and enhancements to our program offerings. In addition, she has obtained both the CFA and CAIA Charters.

“As a CAIA member, I’m deeply committed to the organization’s educational mission around the globe," said Ms. Sill. “We have seen tremendous growth in the use of alternative investments, but we are still in the early stages of adoption and expansion.  I’m excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the next phase of that growth and to help further the expansion of CAIA’s role as an industry thought leader.”

Ms. Buchan said, “It’s been a privilege to serve as Chair and to be at the center of CAIA’s mission to provide the best and most current education and practices in the alternative investment industry.
