AMHERST, MASS. & TOKYO (June 6, 2016, 7:00am JST) – The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association, a global leader in alternative investment education, is today announcing the launch of CAIA Japan, the organization’s 27th worldwide Chapter.

CAIA Japan has been formed with the mission to bring together all of the key stakeholders in the Japanese alternative investment ecosystem, including CAIA Members, Candidates, educational institutions, and others, to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and the continued growth of the space in Japan, across Asia and beyond.

“Japan’s alternative investment community is both diverse and robust, and represents a tremendous concentration of knowledge and innovation,” said William J. Kelly, CEO of CAIA. “With CAIA Japan, we will work to bring all of those resources together to help facilitate dialogue, networking opportunities, and the further expansion of CAIA’s presence as an education resource for all of the country’s alternative investment professionals.”

CAIA Japan is led by Chapter Head Yuichi Alex Takayama, CAIA, Global head of Sales (International Business), Nikko Asset Management. He is joined by the following Chapter Executives:

“CAIA Japan will provide opportunities for investors to be connected with the alternative investment community not only in Japan but around the globe,” said Mr. Takayama. “So far, alternative investments are a relatively small but growing segment in Japan, and we think that CAIA Japan can make a lasting contribution by offering learning opportunities designed for both alternative investment professionals and investors. As part of these efforts, we are building a very exciting calendar of events in the coming months.”

“Japan represents a growth area for CAIA, as we have seen rising interest from the Japanese alternative investment industry in learning about all of the benefits that come with earning the CAIA Charter,” said Jo Murphy, Managing Director, Asia Pacific for CAIA. “Asset owners and asset managers alike understand the value that a deep understanding of alternative investments provides, and those educational opportunities, along with the networking opportunities offered by our local Chapters, make the launch of CAIA Japan so exciting.”
