Ben Peterman

Today, I'm responsible for sourcing and evaluating private markets funds and co-investments that will hopefully provide the long-term, risk-adjusted returns the UPS Investment Group seeks. Earning the CAIA designation has afforded me the credibility and expertise to do just that. The CAIA curriculum develops the analytical foundation to break down manager track records and identify those managers that are able to generate meaningful alpha. It also broadened my perspective in assessing private markets managers, including careful consideration of legal, governance, and operational aspects of funds and their managers that are equally critical. Sometimes, the negotiation over an LPA requires just as much time, effort, and expertise as it does to get comfortable with the investment strategy. Finally, the in-depth coverage of different alternative asset classes and investment models has been invaluable in guiding my thinking around making the best strategic decisions for our portfolio.

Ben Peterman is a Senior Investment Analyst – Private Markets for the UPS Investments Group primarily focused on the ~$3B private equity portfolio.
