Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association® (CAIA) Announces Fifth Annual Leadership Award Winners

BOSTON, Mass. (November 17, 2014) — The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association® (CAIA), the global leader in alternative investment education, today announced that Cambridge Associates, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, and State Street have been presented with the 2014 Annual CAIA Corporate Recognition Award for their outstanding support of alternative investing education within their respective organizations. 

CAIA’s fifth annual awards ceremony was held this year on November 17th in Boston, with the awards presented by Bill Kelly, CAIA’s chief executive officer, Jane Buchan, chief executive officer of PAAMCO and CAIA board chair, and members of the CAIA executive committee.

“Today, we are pleased to recognize these global leaders who are at the forefront of support for alternative investment education across their companies, as well as one of the foremost thinkers working in the alternative space today,” said Kelly.  “We at CAIA look forward to ongoing partnership with each of these award recipients in pursuit of our shared mission of the highest standards in professional ethics and education for the industry.”

Industry executives, prominent thought leaders, CAIA’s Board of Directors, curriculum and advisory boards, CAIA’s Academic Partners, executive committee members from CAIA’s global Chapters, and other distinguished CAIA members and supporters attended the November event.

Annual Award for Academic Excellence and Alternative Investment Research Winner

Josh Lerner, the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking at Harvard Business School and the head of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit, received the 2014 Award for Excellence in Alternative Investment Research for his outstanding research contributions on venture capital and private equity organizations. His research is collected in three books, The Venture Capital Cycle, The Money of Invention, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Lerner was named one of the ten most influential academics in the institutional investing world by Asset International's Chief Investment Officer magazine. He also serves as Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Investing

2014 Annual CAIA Corporate Recognition Award Winners

Cambridge Associates was recognized for making education in alternative investments a cornerstone of its practice, encouraging clients to challenge assumptions and develop a deeper understanding and knowledge base. “Cambridge Associates is honored to accept the Corporate Recognition Award,” said Sandra Urie, chairman and executive officer at Cambridge Associates. “We have 31 colleagues around the world who are CAIA members. Earlier this year, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management partnered with the CAIA Association to offer the Fundamentals of Alternative Investments Certificate Program to its client coverage and investment professionals globally.
