John “J.J.” Kirby joined University of St. Thomas in 2024 as the new Investment Director. He has 20 years of experience in institutional and high net worth portfolio management across traditional and alternative asset classes. He is responsible for research, monitoring, sourcing and due diligence covering all asset classes for St. Thomas. Mr. Kirby comes to St. Thomas from Envoi, a management-owned, independent family office specializing in high net worth client advisory. During his 10 years with the company, he served as Sr. Director of Investment Research. He also was a portfolio manager and analyst at the Minnesota State Board of Investment (MSBI) for 8 years prior to joining Envoi. J.J. earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of St. Thomas and holds CFA and CAIA charters.
