Juan Carlos is now transitioning to be appointed as Director and Head of Alternative Investments for one of the leading pension funds in México with assets under management (AUM) of about USD 40 billion. He will be responsible for the portfolio construction, funds selection, structuring, and execution of the private capital investments. Also, he is a non-executive board member of 50+ public listed investment vehicles (CKDs/CERPIs).
Prior, Juan Carlos was Portfolio Manager of Alternatives Investments in Afore XXI-Banorte, the largest pension fund in México with over USD 50 billion AUM, leading the Private Equity and Private Credit strategies. Before that, he was the Corporate Treasurer of a leading retail company; also, he was a financial regulator within the Ministry of Finance and held several positions in development banks.
Juan Carlos holds a Bachelor of Economics with Risk Management Specialization from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City and received a Masters in Finance from the Universidad de Alcala in Spain. He is CAIA Charterholder and CAIA Chapter Head for Mexico.
