further their careers in alternative investments

AMHERST, MASS. (May 13, 2019) – PAAMCO Prisma LLC, 100 Women in Finance, and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Foundation have announced the 2019 recipients of the 100 Women in Finance/CAIA Scholarships.

This scholarship program, underwritten by PAAMCO Prisma LLC, provides resources to a select group of exceptional recipients as they work towards obtaining the CAIA Charter, the highest educational standard in the alternative investments industry.

The scholarship covers the costs associated with enrollment and registration fees for the CAIA Level I and Level II exams, CAIA textbooks, preparation classes offered through either Kaplan Schweser or UpperMark, and CAIA Association membership dues for the first year.

“A hearty congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients. We’re now closing in on a decade of this program, and it is undeniable what a meaningful impact it has had in identifying and empowering a generation of leaders in the alternative investment industry,” said William J. Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of CAIA.

“This scholarship program strongly reflects our mission to empower women in the finance industry through every stage of their careers. We believe earning the CAIA Charter will further distinguish these already accomplished women and enable greater career advancement. We thank PAAMCO and CAIA for their continued support,” said Amanda Pullinger, Chief Executive Officer, 100 Women in Finance.

CAIA also recently launched a new Gender Diversity Advisory Committee with the goal of ensuring that each CAIA Chapter in the Americas soon has at least one woman serving on its respective leadership committee, if they do not already.

“Diversity is not a ‘nice to have’ aspect of a successful organization, it is essential to help ensure that different points of view are considered and have meaningful influence over how decision are made and the direction an organization like CAIA takes toward its future,” added Deborah McLean, Managing Director, External Relations with CAIA, who has helped form this new committee. “Efforts like this scholarship program and the initiatives we’re taking to improve diversity among our own Chapter leadership teams are all important step in this ongoing process.”

Combined with relevant professional experience and association membership, the CAIA Charter is the global benchmark for alternative investment education. To obtain the CAIA Charter, candidates must complete a rigorous, self-directed education program that develops and promotes deep knowledge and expertise in alternative investing. Candidates who participate in the program are granted the CAIA Charter upon successful completion of two levels of qualifying exams.

The scholarship criteria require applicants to be full members of 100 Women in Finance, not eligible for program reimbursement by their employers, and have one year of professional experience in the alternative investment industry.
