AMHERST, MASS. (June 30, 2016) – 100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF), Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company, LLC (PAAMCO), and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Foundation today announced the recipients of the 2016 100WHF/CAIA Scholarships.
This scholarship program is designed to provide qualified and talented women in the alternative investment space with access to the CAIA Charter, a highly sought after mark of achievement in the field and a designation that can only be earned by passing a rigorous two-part exam. The scholarship program was established in 2011 by 100WHF and is underwritten by PAAMCO. The scholarship program is open exclusively to women with an interest in pursuing a career in alternative investment management, with a specific focus on portfolio management.
Each scholarship recipient is a woman who has achieved advanced levels of success in various financial fields and expressed strong interest in furthering their careers by obtaining the CAIA Charter. The CAIA Association, which oversees the CAIA Foundation, offers the only educational program uniquely designed for individuals specializing in alternative investments.
“As CAIA has continued to expand its presence around the globe, so too has the global nature of our scholarship recipients,” said Jane Buchan, Ph.D., CAIA, Chief Executive Officer with PAAMCO and Chairman of the Board of CAIA. “Ambitious professionals from not only the U.S. but also Switzerland, Mexico, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom are all part of this year’s group of very worthy recipients. We’re very happy to congratulate each of them on his honor and look forward to all that they will accomplish in the future.”
Combined with relevant professional experience and association membership, the CAIA charter is the global benchmark for alternative investment education. In order to obtain the CAIA Charter, candidates must complete a rigorous, self-directed education program that develops and promotes deep knowledge and expertise in alternative investing. Candidates who participate in the program are granted the CAIA Charter upon successful completion of two levels of qualifying exams.
The scholarship covers enrollment and registration fees for CAIA Level I and Level II exams, associated CAIA textbooks and the CAIA Association membership fee for the first year. Additionally, all scholarship recipients receive complimentary test preparation materials, courtesy of Kaplan and UpperMark, whose CEO Pady Jalali is a member of both CAIA and 100WHF.
