AMHERST, Mass. — The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association®, the global leader in alternative investment education, and Macquarie University, one of Australia’s leading Universities, today announced a strategic partnership between the CAIA Association and the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre’s Master of Applied Finance program. Under the partnership, the first of its kind in Australia, the Applied Finance Centre’s students will have access to the CAIA Association's curriculum and events and be eligible to apply for scholarships to earn the CAIA Charter, which requires passing rigorous Level I and Level II examinations.
The agreement was signed by Professor Kevin Jameson, Director of the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre, and Jo Murphy, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, CAIA Association. "Through this partnership, Macquarie students will have access to the most current, in-depth education in asset classes such as commodities, hedge funds, and private equity, giving them a competitive advantage in the growing field of alternative investing," said Murphy.

Following the signing ceremony, Professor Jameson moderated a panel called “What are the key developments and concerns for alternative investment managers and investors in Australia?” Craig Roodt, CAIA Senior Manager, Market Risk, APRA; John O'Keeffe, CAIA, Manager, Debts & Alternatives, Future Fund, CAIA Member Mike Munns, Managing Director, Prodigal Capital participated in the panel discussion.
CAIA’s Academic Partnership Program (APP) includes some of the most prestigious universities in the world that incorporate alternative investments into their courses as represented by the topics covered in the CAIA Level I and Level II curriculum. Upon today’s signing, Macquarie becomes the 17th university in the Program, joining many other internationally top-ranked business schools such as Cass Business School/City University London, Trinity College Dublin, National University of Singapore, Leonard N. Stern School of Business/New York University and IE Business School in Madrid.
The CAIA Association has more than 6,000 members in more than 80 countries with 70 Charter Holders in Australia.
