Bridgette Lococo is the Real Estate Product Specialist at Ares Wealth Management Solutions, where she focuses on the strategy and positioning of the firm’s real estate offerings distributed through the wealth management channel. Prior to joining the product management team in 2022, Bridgette was a Sales Associate at Ares (formerly known as Black Creek Group), responsible for sales of Black Creek’s suite of real estate offerings. Bridgette graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Business Administration (emphasis in Finance) and a Real Estate Certificate.

In a world where artificial intelligence is becoming complex and gaining influence, creating and using a machine learning model is not only a technical endeavor but also a personal journey of exploration, challenges, and growth. Tom Pickel shared his journey of building a neural network from the ground up. Tom shared his experience in creating a neural network using Python’s basic data science packages (Numpy and Pandas) for trying to predict movements in the stock market.
Alik Sokolov and Kathryn Wilkens discussed the revolution of natural language processing in recent years, and how it applies to various areas of investment management. Our ability to work with unstructured text data, which is abundant in investment management, has undergone several evolutions from the late 2010's: from sequence-to-sequence models for machine translation, to the advent of transformers and transfer learning, to the recent breakthroughs achieved by Large Language Models popularized by Chat GPT.
Although I earned the CAIA designation over a year ago, my career trajectory has become more clear to me. I have identified what I want the next few years of my career to look like. I feel even more confident taking the steps to see out my goals by having the CAIA designation under my belt.

Victor Zhu, CFA, CAIA is a senior investment strategist in Vanguard Investment Strategy Group, where his responsibilities include research on portfolio construction, quantitative model portfolio development, robo-advice, and tailored portfolio solutions. Among his areas of expertise are asset allocation, investment strategy, fixed income, and alternative investments. Prior to his current role, he worked in the Quantitative Equity Group and the Quantitative Research Fixed Income Group at Vanguard.
