Tom Bloomer is a Senior Regional Investment Consultant for Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a leading global asset manager with over $600 billion in assets under management. He is responsible for managing the firm’s largest RIA, Bank Trust and Multi-family Office relationships in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining Columbia Threadneedle, Tom held similar roles at Franklin Templeton (via the merger with Legg Mason), Russell Investments and AXA Equitable. 

Erin Garrett, CAIA, Chapter Executive

Erin Garrett is a portfolio manager for T. Rowe Price multi-asset model portfolios.  Erin is co-chair of the Model Portfolio Investment Advisory Committee and a member of the Multi-Asset Due Diligence Committee. Prior to joining T. Rowe Price,  she was a portfolio manager at SEI, where she oversaw $45 billion in U.S. taxable and tax-exempt fixed income mutual funds and separate accounts. Prior to that, Erin held a number of roles in investment communications, manager research, and client investment strategy.

As financial markets continue to evolve, especially private markets, investment professionals need to pursue learning opportunities at every turn, adapting to everchanging alternative investment strategies. With encouragement from my colleagues, including other CAIA charter holders, I decided to pursue my CAIA designation in 2023 to further enhance my knowledge of alternative assets and to provide me with additional tools as an institutional private equity investment professional.

In September 2023, I had the opportunity to connect with a coworker through our company's internal coffee chat program. Although I hadn’t met him before, I noted the impressive designations he held: CFA, CAIA, PMP, and more. During our 45-minute conversation, I shared my aspiration to pursue the CAIA designation after obtaining my CFA charter. While chatting, there was a lot of hesitation within me; I was uncertain about whether pursuing CAIA was the right step.
